IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
Lately, I have been putting in more time to think about Life. Everything about life. Wealth, career, family, friends, people, God, death, sickness, improvement, pleasure and the list goes on ..
I know .. some of you there are laughing .. "A.C. is turning old" =)
Well, I think I am. During my conversation with SK, she asked, "Do you think of yourself as old?"
I replied something like this;
Yes .. I think I am getting old. Not in the sense of jaded, fatigue-old. But .. I sincerely feel that time is running out for me. When I was 21, I had so much ambitions. So full of ideals. When I was 23 or 24, I thought I can finally live out my ideals and take a concrete step towards my ambitions. Start doing things my way. Now that I am 26, I realize .. I have not done a lot of the things I want to do, and there are still a lot more things I want to do! I feel old, because I think that time is slipping by too fast for me to achieve everything I want to. So yes, I feel old.
I believe in living passionately. I believe that work can be fun. I believe that work is not only for sustaining ourselves. It is also part of our legacy. What we leave behind for the future.
I believe that the world can be a better place not by first, having the people change themselves. I believe that the world can be a better place by first, changing myself. I believe in treating people sincerely. I believe in loving people selflessly. I believe in making things right. I believe in integrity. I believe success does not have to be ruthless.
I believe in my God. I believe that wealth can make life better. But I also believe that it is not the end of the process. I believe money is a tool, not a master. I believe I can make a difference.
So, what am I doing?
What are you doing Chung Chin?
