Of Trust

Trust:
noun 1: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something 2: acceptance of the truth of a statement without evidence or investigation 3: the state of being responsible for someone or something

I looked up the word trust online and found the above definitions.
The first and second definition is common. Its the third definition that somewhat surprises me. Because I have never really defined it that way.

The state of being responsible for someone or something.

Which is true, isn't it?
When you are trusted by someone, you are responsible for your actions/words/behaviors because .. that someone has a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of you and thus accept the truth of any statements/actions/behaviors elicited by you, without the need for evidence or investigation.

Trust.
Simple word. But not an easy action at all. It is certainly not easy to build trust among people in someone. And for me, it is not easy at all to trust someone wholly.
I am a cynic. What else can I say?

It certainly can be easy to trust people. I mean, all you have to do is just ... trust ... in them. You know. Have faith in their deeds. Their words. Just take it as it is. And not doubt it.
But, when you find out the lies, however small it may be ... and even though the lies may be to ... as they say it ... "protect" you ... you just find it so hard to trust people anymore.

Which is better?
To trust in people wholly? Even those lies that they have.
Or to reserve some doubt?

When people ask me to trust them. I have almost always replied with a cynical attitude.
And when I find out about their little lies, it is harder for me to trust in them.
I wish I can trust people more. Sincerely. Even the littles they have. Trust in their lies. Which doesn't really make sense. But, that is trust, isn't it? To accept without the need for evidence or investigation.

Be the fool who trust wholly in a person? Even the little lies?
Or the wise guy with a cynical attitude?

If people are more responsible with their words, I think I may perhaps trust a little more.

I am bitter.
I know.

I am very bitter in fact.
