Synapsis:
"To you, perceptive reader, I bequeath my history....”
Late one night, exploring her father's library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters. The letters are all addressed to “My dear and unfortunate successor,” and they plunge her into a world she never dreamed of—a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history. .
Well, this is a very basic synapsis copied from the book itself..but in essence, I guess I can safely say that the book is basically about the history of Vlad The Impaler..or probably more well-known as..
..Dracula.
The story actually says that Dracula is very much alive and living in today's world..in fact, he is very much interested in our affairs..
Personally, I think this is a good reading..why?..the book actually chilled me from the very beginning..although most horror book will..
..and yes..there are certain parts that sort of drags the storyline..but then..for most of the part..Kostova has you gripping the book wanting to read on..
One point I must make..this book made me realize that..horror stories are well..STORIES..but..when it comes to horror HIstories..it is..HORROR..
What makes a real horror is that it HAS HAPPENED..sometime in the past..
Imagine..
Looking at a thousand bodies impaled on stake..every morning you walk out of your room to brush your teeth?
What a good greeting to start your day..heh..
Or perhaps looking at some guys with cap nailed to their head..walking around the campus..
Yeah..that is extreme piercing dude..
Fancy having a new design for fences round your campus??..hey..how bout some Turkish ears and noses??..yeah..with the blood..
That was the era of Vlad Tepes..Vlad The Impaler..Drakulya..Dragon of the Son..or as I said it..more well known as
Dracula.
To end this post, I would again say this is a good book. You will be learning a lot of history..and some amazing facts..apart from getting to imagine some really nice places.
Go ahead and read it if you have the time yeah.
